At the Whitchurch Stouffville Foodbank, our priority is the well-being of our clients, volunteers, donors and the community at large. We are committed to being proactive and responsible during the evolving COVID-19 pandemic.
We understand and appreciate that many of our volunteers and clients may be experiencing anxiety. At this time, there is no evidence of community spread within York Region, and the risk to York Region residents of acquiring COVID-19 in the community remains low.
To reduce exposure to the virus and protect your health, we are asking that all visitors to the WS Foodbank follow these steps as recommended by York Region Public Health:
· Wash your hands often with soap and water (20+ seconds) or alcohol-based hand sanitizer
· Sneeze and cough into a tissue or your sleeve
· Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
· Avoid contact with people who are sick
· Stay home if you are sick
In addition, the WS Foodbank is also:
· Increasing signage and information posted
· Monitoring and limiting entry into our premises
· Providing clients with standard, prepared orders
· Providing volunteers with additional space for sorting. The use of rubber gloves will be enforced while handling food.
· Hand-sanitizer is available for public use
We also encourage clients and volunteers to visit the York Region Health Department website where you will find the latest information and community updates on COVID-19. www.york.ca or the Ministry of Health at https://www.ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus
We will continue to monitor this situation as it evolves and advise you of any announcements.
