High school students in Ontario must complete 40 community service hours to graduate, and the Whitchurch Stouffville Food Bank is pleased to provide a food drive program to help Stouffville's early volunteers meet their hours.
First, plan a food drive in your community or building. You will be responsible for promoting, collecting, sorting, and dropping off donations.
Submit your proposal via email to our Food Drive Manager for approval. You must be approved before collecting any food in order to earn hours. You will need to submit a detailed outline of your food drive, including marketing materials such as posters, flyers, and proposed social media content.
All collected food must be dropped off at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Food Bank. Drop-off time will need to be scheduled by the Food Drive Manager.
We can provide a list of our most needed donations or suggest a theme, which helps us maintain stock and ensure our clients' diverse needs are met.
Once your drive is complete and the food has been dropped off, we will review your efforts and calculate your volunteer hours. Earned hours will be based on the amount of food collected, and the time spent planning, promoting and organizing your drive as detailed in your proposal and presented through submitted food drive materials.
We will consider the full scope of your involvement in calculating your hours, from planning and promotion to collection and delivery.
If you have any questions about the program, please don't hesitate to contact us. We would love to hear from you!
